Iga Swiatek’s Racquet Switch

by Jonas Eriksson

What is Iga Swiatek’s racquet switch? She has been seen playing with a different racquet from her signature IGA 298 Tempo.

She is still playing with a Tecnifibre racquet, though, so it’s not major news in the racquet world. But she is the world’s highest-paid female athlete, and even minor adjustments in gear or team will raise eyebrows across the sporting world.

We are not a hundred percent sure what is involved in Swiatek’s racquet switch, but it sure looks like she is playing with a Tecnifibre Tfight ISO. However, there is both the 300 16×19, which plays remarkably similar to the IGA 298 Tempo and the Medvedev-endorsed 305, which has a 18×19 pattern and more mass in the head.

Like all top tennis pros, she is getting the racquet made to her desired specifications, but with the ISO she played it close to stock form, but added weight to the racquet head to increase swing weight and power.

Both the Tecnifibre Tfight ISO 300 and 305 are well-reviewed and liked racquets on Tennis Warehouse.

Iga Swiatek’s strings

Iga Swiatek’s strings still seem to be the Tecnifibre Razor Code White that she has been using for a while, so no changes there.

It is difficult to tell from the pics and footage of her playing, but it might also be that Tecnifibre is phasing out the Tempo line and is moving Iga over to the Tfight line to clean up the silos.

The Tempo does not make much sense in the line-up, especially since the Tfight ISO 300 and the IGA 298 are relatively close in specifications. I don’t think it makes sense to have two such similar racquets in the line-up, but then again, HEAD has many racquet silos and it seems to work for them.

Will we see Iga endorsing or using the Tfight 300 next year? I believe so. How do you think she will do during the 2024 season?
