We have received several messages about Jannik Sinner’s new shoes. What are they? We did some digging to find out.
Racquets and strings are more common topics for pro player switches and experimentation, but pro players sometimes want to upgrade their footwear. Sinner used to play with the 2018 Nike Zoom Zero, but has recently moved on to something close to the Nike GP Challenge 1. The Nike GP Challenge 1 is mentioned in the list of our Top Tennis Gear Right Now (2024), but according to insiders, Sinner uses a different sock liner and some material removed to get closer to the Zoom Zero fit that he is used to.
Most high-ranked pro players have customized shoes for their feet and movement needs. The same goes for pro player racquets, as I am sure you know. And as with pro stock racquets, you need to be a detective or have good sources to get more information about pro shoes.
Sinner’s endorsed shoe is the Nike GP Challenge 1, which we reviewed favorably. It is quite unique shoe, with more of a running style design and top marks for comfort. Wider fit.

Did you know?
Did you know that Alcaraz used 11 pairs of shoes for his US Open campaign in 2022? The speed and explosiveness with which the players move puts a lot of strain on their tennis shoes. The simply play a different sport than club players who can use the same shoes for years at times. Still, I would recommend looking into replacing shoes and strings as often as you can afford since the materials wear down after time and become less responsive.
We also recommend you to pay for the higher-end model of tennis shoes as there is a difference in the quality of rubber and materials used with more budget-friendly shoes even if they look similar on the surface.
We can safely assume that Jannik Sinner’s new shoes are made with the best materials possible and although we don’t need to be that specific, it is good to go for quality.

He played very briefly with those shoes. Did not get used to them and got back to his old Air Zoom Zero which I have no clue why Nike discontinued one of their best tennis shoes ever.
