Sadly, Nadal is not back on the courts, but he is making moves outside of it. Nadal invests in Playtomic and becomes a strategic shareholder and partner.
The press release declaring that Nadal invests in Playtomic reaches us on April 8th.
What is Playtomic?
Playtomic is said to be the largest racket sports community in the world and the leading app for booking padel and tennis courts, boasting the largest racket player community worldwide.
Nadal + Playtomic
Nadal joins Playtomic as a shareholder. His investment represents financial support and strengthens the company’s mission to promote the practice of padel and tennis, connecting amateur players worldwide. Playtomic closed last year with over 50 active countries, achieving profitability, and plans to grow by 50% in the current 2024, reinforcing markets such as the USA, UK, Germany, Mexico, or Indonesia and venturing into countries like the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.
What Nadal has to say about investing in Playtomic
Félix Ruiz, Co-Founder and CEO of Playtomic: “I am very excited to see a sports legend like Rafa Nadal join Playtomic. It will be a great boost to help us raise awareness of our technology platform and support the growth of racquet sports around the world.”
This is another move to build Rafa Nadal’s financial legacy. Besides numerous sponsorship deals, he is expanding the Rafa Nadal Academy. We were impressed by the Mallorca facilities when we went there in 2022 and I am sure other locations are also impressive.
It will be interesting to follow Nadal’s journey in tennis also after his playing career. This is another step at establishing his personal brand as one of the leading ones in the tennis world.
