The Australian Open 2021 Draw

The Australian Open 2021 Draw is out. It was delayed by one day due to the quarantine imposed after a hotel worker tested positive for Covid.

The Australian Open 2021 Draw has Djokovic in the draw of Wawrinka, Zverev and Thiem, while Nadal is in the half of Medvedev, Rublev and Tsitsipas. But will Rafa be fit to play? He has suffered from a stiff back and decided to sit on the sidelines during the ATP Cup. Nadal usually needs a lot of match play to feel a hundred percent ready so even if he is fine to play physically, he might still have a lot of catching up to do tennis wise.

Djokovic is still the favorite

Djokovic has played in the ATP Cup and quite lot of tennis with both singles and doubles. He has looked pretty solid and remains the favorite for the Australian Open title, although I predict that Thiem will take it. Two other players that seem to be in great form is Team Russia with Medvedev and Rublev. Team Italy’s Berrettini is also playing the best tennis I’ve seen him play in quite a while.

We all know Wawrinka can win a slam if he puts it all together, but he had to withdraw in his latest match at the Murray River Open. Yes, they had to play twice in a day due to the Covid case, but it’s not a great sign for a player who has had multiple knee surgeries and injury scares in recent years.
