It is the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament. And here are the most decorated Wimbledon champions.

Wimbledon presents the ultimate challenge for every tennis player who dreams to be successful. There have been countless interviews of tennis players who said that Wimbledon is the one tournament that they wish to win the most. The tradition at Wimbledon includes a strict, all-white dress code for all the players and royal patronage. It is safe to say that it is the most traditional tournament in the tennis world. There are no sponsors as well, except Rolex. The watch company provides timekeeping technology, which is why their brand is featured.

We’ve seen many legendary players who participated at Wimbledon throughout the years. And since we already covered the most decorated US Open players, we will cover Wimbledon as well. But, before we do that, let’s discuss who has the best chances of winning the next year’s Wimbledon tournament.

2020 Wimbledon – Men’s Favorites

Wimbledon 2019 Predictions

The 2020 Wimbledon will bring some fierce competition in the Men’s and the Women’s Category. The top contenders in the Men’s Category are Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Felix Auger Aliassime. Djokovic’s odds are 6/4 and he is leading the pack. Roger Federer has 9/2, and Rafael Nadal is sitting at 6/1. Felix is last in the top contender list, and his odds are 33/1.

The greater the competition, the better the promotions from the online bookies will be. It is nice to keep yourself in the loop when visiting the bookies. Many of them offer various promotions, free bets, and bonus codes for the customers that are using their services. By using bonus codes, you can be eligible for extra profit when betting. This Sports Interaction bonus code gives you the chance to claim a 100% bonus and that is why they are worth to check out.

2020 Wimbledon – Women’s Favorites

Now, we can head over to the Women’s Category and check out the favorites in that field as well. Even though Simona Halep was unexpectedly eliminated by Townsend in the US Open very early, she is still considered as the player who is most likely to win Wimbledon. Her odds are 7/1. Serena Williams is right behind her with 8/1. Angelique Kerber grabs the number three spot with odds sitting at 16/1. And the top 4 contender list is concluded with Amanda Anisimova with 22/1.

Of course, some underdogs are more than capable to surprise everyone, but judging by the performance from the favorites, it will be hard to eliminate them. Speaking of favorites, it is time to check out the most decorated Wimbledon winners in the tournament’s history.

The Most Decorated Wimbledon Champions

Martina Navratilova

Martina Navratilova is a legend in the Women’s Category. She managed to win 9 Wimbledon titles in the Open Era. During the period from 1978-1990, Martina was dominating the tournament and was the obvious winner almost every year. She managed to get her hands on the prestigious title in 1978, 1979, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, and 1990. A truly formidable opponent.

Roger Federer

Wimbledon 2019 Predictions

Federer will go down in history as the most chivalrous and most legendary player in the Men’s Category. He has been showing nothing but class since he first started. The Swiss legend has won Wimbledon 8 times in his career (so far) in the Open Era. Roger lifted the Wimbledon trophy in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2012, and 2017.

Helen Willis Moody

Helen is another US legend in the game. During her career, she won 31 Grand Slams, and held the record for the most Wimbledon titles, until Martina Navratilova surpassed her. She was dominating in the Amateur Era and managed to get her hands on 8 Wimbledon trophies in 1927, 1928,1929, 1930, 1932, 1933, 1935, and 1938.

Steffi Graff/ Dorothea Chambers

Steffi and Dorothea have an equal number of Wimbledon titles, both of them have won the tournament 7 times. The only difference between them is while Steffi won them in the Open Era, Dorothea won her trophies during the Amateur Era.

William Renshaw

This British player has been on the podium as a Wimbledon winner 7 times during the Amateur Era. William has held the trophy in his hands in 1881, 1882, 1883, 188, 1885, 1886, and 1889. He is the oldest record holder in this list and during his time in the 19th century, he was ranked as world number 1.

Pete Sampras

Unlike William Renshaw, Pete Sampras is a US player who played in the 1990s. Logically, all of his titles are in the Open Era. He won the Wimbledon title in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000. His last match was on September 2002, and after that, he retired in August 2003.

Serena Williams

Serena Williams is the modern legend in the Women’s Category. She is dominating every competition, not just Wimbledon. But, since this article covers that one tournament, we are going to say that she won it 7 times so far, and she is not planning on stopping. Who knows, maybe she will even surpass Martina.

Novak Djokovic

The biggest joker on the courts is as motivated as ever. After making a historic win against Federer this year, he is set to lift as many trophies as he can. So far, he won Wimbledon 5 times, in 2011, 2014, 2015,2018, and of course, 2019.
