Novak Djokovic is out of the Australian Open 2022

by TN

The news are out: Novak Djokovic is out of the Australian Open 2022 after 10 days of drama and uncertainty.

No matter how you’re feeling about this crazy mess, it’s good that it’s over because I think it was hurting tennis, Novak himself, the Australian government and all the organisations connected to it. Just a completely unnecessary scandal overshadowing the whole event and stealing attention from where we should focus, on the tennis. The fact is Novak Djokovic is out of the Australian Open 2022, leaving a big hole on side of the draw.

Djokovic’s deportation is reported like this on the tennis.com website:

“The court is in a position to make orders that are unanimous. The court is not in a position to deliver reasons today.”

“The orders of the court are:
-The amended application to be dismissed at costs.
-Reasons to be published at a later date.”

The end result: Djokovic will be deported from Australia.

What will happen to the tournament?

I published my Australian Open 2022 Draw predictions on this website and on my YouTube channel. Djokovic’s absence from the tournament opens up a huge opportunity for Daniil Medvedev or Alexander Zverev to win the tournament and become world number one in the ATP tour rankings. It’s still a tall order, but I’m sure Medvedev is feeling very confident after last season and Zverev’s also been improving steadily.

We also have guys like Matteo Berrettini and Rafa Nadal as threats in the draw, but on hard courts, Medvedev and Zverev seems like the most likely winners. I guess you should never count out Aslan Karatsev, who is on a winning streak, but going the whole way in a slam is a different story.

It will be interesting to see how Djokovic’s absence will affect the other players. Will they seize the opportunity? What are your thoughts?

Hi Tennisnerds
The Djokovic issue should have been sorted when there was ample time prior to the tournament.
Now its finished its good to see some of the up and coming players take the bull by the horns.
I’d like to see Auger Aliassime, Sinner, Shapovalov at least get to the semis.
