Australian Open Semi-Final Predictions

by Jonas Eriksson

We are down to the final four players. Here are our Australian Open Semi-Final Predictions for 2024. Who will get to the final?

Let’s take them match by match and start with the men’s tournament.

Australian Open 2024 Men’s Semi-Final Predictions

Sinner vs Djokovic

This is a blockbuster semi-final and perhaps the most anticipated match before the draw was revealed. It is their 7th match and Djokovic leads the rivalry 4-2. However, more importantly, Sinner won their last match at the Davis Cup Finals.

Both players have looked impossible to beat in their recent matches. Djokovic does not look quite 100%, but it has been enough. There seemed to be some injury niggles also in Sinner’s match against Rublev, but despite that, he still didn’t lose a set.

I would argue that these guys are the best players in the draw and this can very well be the final. Not to take anything away from the Medvedev vs Zverev match-up of course.

The key to the match for Sinner is to get a good start. I think coming from beyond is too difficult against a player like Djokovic. This match will be highly physical for both players and their physical and mental fitness going into it will be paramount. The odds are in Djokovic’s favor, but not by a huge margin, which I think is fair. You get 1.53 on a bet for Djokovic to win and 2.8 for Sinner to win.

If you look at the set betting, I think a Djokovic win 3-1 is the most likely result and nets 4.2 times your bet. Check out the best tennis betting sites if you’re into adding extra excitement to the game. But bet responsibly!

Who do you think will win, Djokovic or Sinner?

Medvedev vs Zverev

We rightly predicted that Medvedev would beat Hurkacz in five sets, but we did not see that Zverev would beat Alcaraz in four sets coming in our predictions.

If Zverev plays like he did against Alcaraz with a high first serve percentage and rock-solid play from the baseline, he will be close to impossible to beat. He looked to be back to the form he had when he pushed Nadal at the French Open 2022 before his ankle injury.

These guys have some history. They have played 18 times (!) and last year they played six matches against each other with Medvedev winning 5 and Zverev winning 1. However, the way Zverev played against Alcaraz throws everything on his head. I think this was the best tennis performance I have seen from him and Zverev at his best will beat Medvedev at 90%. Not sure where Medvedev is with his game, but he has not been shining with his tennis. It has been workmanlike, but not spectacular. I don’t think that is enough unless Zverev has a bad day in the serving office.

Medvedev is the odds favorite at 1.75 vs Zverev’s 2.2. I think Zverev will win in five sets and that gives an odds of 6.5, which is pretty good value for a match like this. You can check out our Australian Open Betting page if you are interested in placing a bet.

Australian Open 2024 Women’s Semi-Final Predictions

Gauff vs Sabalenka

Like the Sinner vs Djokovic match, this feels like the actual final in the women’s tournament. Based on their quarter-final performances, this should be an easy win for Sabalenka, who has been in stellar form all tournament. Gauff was playing pretty poor by her standards in her against Kostyuk, but got it done which counts for something.

This will be Sabalenka’s toughest match so far and sometimes her level can drop when she faces a tough opponent or can start smelling the trophy. Gauff is one of the fiercest competitors on the WTA Tour and with Brad Gilbert in the box, she can win even when she is playing ugly. But “winning ugly” is not going to be easy against a player like Sabalenka. The American needs to bring a better game to win the match. Maybe she will.

The odds are in Sabalenka’s favor, but Gauff leads their head-to-head 4-2. A Gauff win gives you 2.8 times your money, while a Sabalenka win is valued at 1.5. Gauff won their US Open final last year and that will either give her plenty of confidence and/or Sabalenka a source of concern. But I think this is Sabalenka’s title based on how amazingly she is hitting the ball at the moment.

My prediction: Sabalenka in three sets.

Yastremska vs Zheng

If you saw this match-up coming in your Australian Open Semi-Final Predictions, I am impressed. Yastremska has been playing the tournament of her life so far, while Zheng feels like she is playing well, but it is bit more expected.

This is a big moment for both of them. Neither players has been in a Grand Slam semi-final and their will be nerves on the table. Zheng is the odds favorite. You get a 1.5 times your bet on her win and 2.75 times your money on a successful Yamstremska bet.

Zheng is the seeded player. She has looked excellent all tournament. This is becoming a breakthrough performance for her. I think she will win 2-1 in sets, which gives around 4 times your bet.

Do you think Zheng will reach her first Grand Slam final?
