Day four of Wimbledon brings a riveting match up between the top two British men’s players, with Jack Draper squaring off against Cam Norrie this Thursday.

A clash between two Brits at Wimbledon is big enough as it is; throw in the added spice of Draper dethroning Norrie as the British No 1 just last month, and this clash is a must-watch. There’s much more on the line than just a third-round berth as dark horse Draper takes on former Wimbledon semi-finalist Norrie.

It doesn’t matter if you’re after betting tips or simply looking to understand more about this fascinating match up. Read on, because we’ve got the latest Draper vs Norrie prediction. We break down the latest odds, each player’s path to victory, and our tips of how we think this one will unfold.

Draper vs Norrie Odds

To set the scene, here’s what tennis betting sites are saying about Draper vs Norrie:

In terms of set betting, bookies expect Draper to get the job done in straight sets, with this paying 2.75 (+175). However, a four-set win to the 22-year-old is not far off either, returning 3.60 (+260).

Draper vs Norrie Preview

Jack Draper

This season has undoubtedly been the best of Draper’s fledgling career so far. The Brit is widely regarded as talented enough to threaten a spot in the top 10; trouble is, he’s had a raft of injuries to deal with already, keeping him from playing consistent matches on Tour.

Things have begun to click for him health-wise over the past year, however. Draper made his maiden ATP final in Sofia late last year, and followed that up with back-to-back semi-finals in early 2024. Clay was a struggle, but as soon as he got to grass, Draper found form again.

The 22-year-old won his first ATP-level title in Stuttgart last month, defeating Matteo Berrettini in the final. He then went on to upset defending champion Carlos Alcaraz at Queen’s the next week. Now, here in London, he’s primed to make a serious run at the Wimbledon title.

Draper’s first-round match was a gritty affair. He took five sets to get past qualifier Elias Ymer, and certainly didn’t play his best tennis. However, a win is a win–particularly when you’re young, and dealing with the weight of expectation put on you by the British public on Centre Court at Wimbledon.

Cam Norrie

For Norrie, it’s been a much more difficult year. The 28-year-old has barely managed a winning record at the season’s halfway point, having won 14 and lost 13 ahead of Wimbledon.

Highlights include the fourth round appearance at the Australian Open where he defeated Casper Ruud, plus a semi-final in Rio de Janeiro. Other than these results, it’s been slim pickings for the former world No 8.

Norrie usually thrives on clay, but went 4-9 across the European clay swing. Grass was no better, with the Brit going winless across Tour-level events and coming to Wimbledon having lost four matches in a row.

However, he’ll be looking to turn things around this fortnight. Norrie has a good record here, and already looked improved when he saw off Facundo Diaz Acosta 7-5, 7-5, 6-3 to book a spot against Draper in the second round.

Draper vs Norrie Prediction

Draper should win this match, but we expect it won’t be straight forward for the No 28 seed.

Firstly, there’s a lot at stake in this clash. Norrie has produced some limp performances in 2024, but this won’t be one of them. His ego has been bruised by losing the British No 1 ranking just ahead of Wimbledon, and he’ll be eager to show Draper who’s boss in front of a home crowd on Thursday.

Secondly, the familiarity these two have with each other’s games will work in Norrie’s favor. Form-wise, this should be a simple win for Draper. But the fact that they’ve played Davis Cup together and spent plenty of time hitting on the practice courts together is a leveling factor.

Thirdly, Norrie has beaten Draper twice before. While not too much can be read into their head-to-head given Draper’s age, the senior statesman will enter this clash with a healthy dose of confidence that an upset is possible.

All this to say, we believe Draper will get over the line, but it’ll be closer than the bookies are forecasting.

Prediction: Draper in four.
