The US Open begins in less than 10 days now, with the WTA Tour converging on New York in late August for the year’s final Grand Slam. As the last major of 2024 approaches, who is sitting in the box seat to claim the title?Â
Will it be Iga Swiatek, who sits atop the WTA rankings and claimed this tournament in 2022? Or defending champion Coco Gauff, who is currently in a lull of form? What about Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina, perpetual threats at the business end of Grand Slams, can they stake their claim in 2024?
We take an early look at the latest women’s US Open 2024 odds, breaking down who’s favorite, and who we say is the best bet heading into New York later this month.

Women’s US Open 2024 Odds
No need for any more preamble! Here’s what the top tennis bookmakers say about the women’s contenders at the 2024 US Open:
- Iga Swiatek @ 4.00 (+300)
- Aryna Sabalenka @ 4.00 (+300)
- Elena Rybakina @ 8.00 (+700)
- Coco Gauff @ 9.50 (+850)
- Naomi Osaka @ 11.00 (+1000)
- Jessica Pegula @ 15.00 (+1400)
- Qinwen Zheng @ 21.00 (+2000)
- Mirra Andreeva @ 23.00 (+2200)
Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka cannot be separated at the top of the women’s US Open 2024 odds, with both sitting at 4.00 (+300) to win in New York. Behind these two, there’s a big drop back to the number three contender, Elena Rybakina. The Kazakh is at twice the odds of Swiatek and Sabalenka, paying 8.00 (+700) to win.
Defending champion Coco Gauff (9.50, +850) and four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka (11.00, +1000) are also in contention, before the lines begin to lengthen even further. America’s Jessica Pegula sits in between at 15.00 (+1400), while Qinwen Zheng (21.00, +2000) and Mirra Andreeva (23.00, +2200) round out the contenders.
Women’s Seeds at the 2024 US Open
The seeds for the women’s US Open haven’t been completely finalized yet, as action is still carrying on in Cincinnati. However, here’s a rough look at how things stand for now:
- Iga Swiatek
- Aryna Sabalenka
- Coco Gauff
- Elena Rybakina
- Jasmine Paolini
- Jessica Pegula
- Qinwen Zheng
- Barbora Krejcikova
The top three spots in the women’s seeds are locked up ahead of New York, while Rybakina is all but assured of the number four spot as well (Paolini would have to win Cincinnati to overtake her). There’s room for plenty of jostling for seeds five through eight, however.
Our Favorites to Win the Women’s US Open 2024
Based on these US Open odds and seedings, these are some of our early favorites for the title in New York.
Best Bet to Win: Iga Swiatek
Everyone knows Swiatek’s near-invincible reputation on clay, but we’re high on her chances of winning the US Open this year as well. Here’s why.
First of all, the Pole is a fantastic hard court player. She won the US Open in 2022, has a 78.5% win rate on hard courts, and has won 13 titles on the surface, including three this year (counting the United Cup). This year alone, Swiatek is 23-3 on hard courts. Her three losses came by way of stand out performances from dark horses as well, rather than being outplayed by a rival.
But the main reason why we believe Swiatek is the best bet to win the US Open is because of the Olympics. The 23-year-old suffered a heartbreaking loss in Paris, missing out on a chance to win gold for Poland when she was the heavy favorite.
This can do one of two things to a player: send them in a tail-spin, or motivate them to make amends. We’re picking that Swiatek will respond with the latter, and reclaim the narrative of her season in New York.
Best High Odds Bet: Mirra Andreeva
She’s raw, she’s rough, but she’s also absolutely brilliant on her day. Mirra Andreeva is still only 17 years old, even though it seems like she’s been a regular on the WTA Tour for years now. As far as high odds bets at the US Open go, she’s our pick.
In the little over a year that Andreeva has been playing at the highest level, she’s played 18 top 20 players. Of these matches, the Russian has won 10. She’s won four of her last six as well, with two of those being top 10 scalps, including against world No 2 Aryna Sabalenka at Roland-Garros this year.
Teenagers winning Grand Slams on the WTA Tour is no rare occurrence. It just feels like a matter of time until Andreeva has her big breakthrough. She’s already won her first WTA title and claimed a silver medal at the Olympics in the past month–it would be no surprise if she added a major to that haul as well.
Bet to Avoid: Naomi Osaka
Osaka is fifth favorite in the women’s US Open odds, but we don’t recommend betting on the Japanese star. While we’re not ruling out the fact that she may be able to return to her previous height in the future, now doesn’t feel like the time. Her results have been erratic, and things don’t seem to quite be clicking on court.
She even said so herself recent, explaining after her loss in the second round of qualifying at Cincinnati:
“My biggest issue currently isn’t losses though, my biggest issue is that I don’t feel like I’m in my body.
“It’s a strange feeling, missing balls I shouldn’t miss, hitting balls softer than I remember I used to. I try to tell myself, ‘It’s fine you’re doing great. Just get through this one and keep pushing’, mentally it’s really draining through.
“Internally, I hear myself screaming, ‘What the hell is happening?!?!’”
Doesn’t instill us with confidence that she’ll be able to make a deep run in New York. You’d be better putting your money behind Swiatek or Andreeva, and hold out for Osaka to come right at the Australian Open next year.
