We’re now into the quarterfinals of the Miami Open 2024 and we’ll soon be tuning into the Jannik Sinner v Tomas Machac match. However, can’t see any good value bets on that matchup and instead we’re focusing on the next one, Nicolas Jarry v third seed Daniil Medvedev.

Nicolas Jarry vs Daniil Medvedev

This will be the second meeting between these two, with Medvedev having the only win, in straight sets, on clay in Barcelona around 5 years ago.

Daniil Medvedev have had a great season with 17 wins on 20 matches and two runner-up finishings (Indian Wells and Australian Open). The Russian started a bit shaky against German Dominik Koepfer in the last round, and were 4-0 down in the first tie-break. However, he turned that around and went on to a crushing 6-0 win in the 2nd set.

Medvedev likes these types of hard-courts and he goes in as clear odds favourite at all the tennis betting sites at around 1.18 | -600 | 1/6

Nicolas Jarry has not really been great on hard-courts but showed some fine form taking out Thiago Seyboth Wild (6-7(1), 7-5, 6-3) in an exciting match yesterday.

The Chilean player deserves his no 23 in the rankings and has developed into a tough opponent for anyone on the tour.

Predictions

This was not the best matchup for Jarry and his great talent will probably not be enough against the current form of Medvedev who can play his normal strong game here on his preferred surface .

The Russian had been starting many matches slowly as of late and this time he might not be able to afford that. He won’t mind long rallies and games, and we can see at least one tie-break in the match.

Our bets

  • 2nd Set – Winner, Medvedev
  • Total Number of Tiebreaks, Over 0.5
