Besides the ADV Pro V3 review, we have also tested the 2nd generation of their backpack. Here is our ADV Backpack V2 Review.
Do you go for a full-size tennis bag or a backpack? If you take the bike to the tennis courts, the backpack is the way to go. Or, like me, you use a tennis backpack for your flight carry-on. The good thing about using a tennis bag as a carry-on is that you can then use it as your tennis bag during the trip (unless you are playing a pro tournament, of course).
The ADV Backpack is loaded with features and pockets. The first generation of the backpack was already excellent as you can see in our ADV Backpack review. They have since simplified the name from Jetpack to just the ADV tennis backpack. Oh, and you get 10% off using the code TENNISNERD10. For other deals, check out our Deals page.
This is a full-fledged, jampacked, good-sized, well thought-through and very durable backpack. But let’s go through the specifications and the features list first.
Specifications
- Length: 21″ย
- Width: 12″
- Depth: 9″
- Volume: 37L
- Weight: 3.5lbs
This backpack offers a lot of room and can be used for more than tennis. I usually pack the racquets in the hold luggage and bring this one on the plane with my laptop, extra clothes, and other stuff. Keen to hear if you use your ADV backpack for tennis or some other use.
Features (exterior)
We start this ADV Backpack V2 review with the exterior features.
Racquet Cape: This is a nice feature that I haven’t seen before. It holds 1-3 racquets and covers them from frame to handle. Most bags have the handles strutting out of the bag, which in rain might not be ideal.
Quick-Access Pocket: Maybe my most used feature. For just quickly stowing away your phone, keys, wallet, etc. There are two separate pockets with a velcro seal.
Insulated Waterproof Cooler: A cooler pocket is very useful, especially in summer for cold drinks.
Bag Hook: Locker room, fence, if you prefer hanging your bag.
Side Stretch pocket: This is a generous-sized pocket for bigger water bottles, tripods, and even smaller yoga mats.
Laptop Sleeve: I use this when flying, for example. The dadded sleeve holds up to 16โ laptop.
Adjustable Bag Straps with soft cushioning and a hidden card compartment.
Shoe & Sweat Compartment: Dedicated, ventilated shoe compartment with a shelf for sweaty clothes.
Made with Korda nylon, a lightweight yet military-grade weatherproof material.ย
Features (interior)
This bag is more spacious than it might look with its 15-liter main compartment. It also has a tablet/portfolio pocket for ambitious players with match journals or iPads.
Side panel pockets: Store dampeners, grips, wristbands, socks, etc.
Soft interior pocket: Soft velour lining protects valuables like rings, jewelry, and watches.ย
2 Large Mesh Pockets: Holds your toiletries, sunblock, or medications.
Shelving System: Once you hang your bag, your gear is easily visible and accessible.
What is new?
One great feature is that you can detach the tennis handle cape. I don’t use it a lot and find it more compact without it.
A toiletry pocket is added, which is great since most tennis players bring sunscreen or tiger balm or stuff like that.
They made the racquet pocket larger to comfortably fit three racquets, which is impressive for a backpack.
They added side handles for quick and easy maneuvering and they have added an extra hook for better stability when hanging the backpack.
You might not want to read this, but there are also pickleball paddle sleeves in the racquet compartment :)
Summary
For players who prefer light and portable racquet bags and want to take the bike or scooter to the courts, the ADV backpack V2 is an excellent choice. It is larger and has more pockets than most other racquet backpacks I have seen. You can carry three racquets, shoes, cold water (in the cooling compartment), a laptop and all the accessories you need in this backpack.
I am keen to hear now, are you a backpack or a tennis bag person?
