ADV Pro V3 Review – a great tennis bag

by Jonas Eriksson

I have tested the third generation of one of my favorite tennis bags. Here is my ADV Pro V3 Review.

You might not be familiar with the relatively new brand ADV, but they have been around for a while and have some fresh and innovative thinking around their tennis bags. I tested the ADV Pro V2 (it was called Jetpack then, but they have simplified the name) last year and was very happy with it (it was included in our post about the best tennis bags), but in short, this one is an improvement. We will get to why in a bit.

For you interested in a tennis backpack, then the ADV Backpack (now in V2) is also excellent.

Background

To give you some background to this review, I have had and tested many tennis bags. One of my wardrobes is full of stacked from floor to ceiling (with racquets). I am very picky on bags since I have slightly different needs to most tennis players. I need to carry at least 6 racquets (fewer on tournament days, but still) for testing and I usually bring a tripod, microphones, etc.

I also travel with my tennis bag. I go on tennis/related trips several times a year and almost always check in a tennis bag. The ADV Pro V3 has joined me on several trips already and stood up well in terms of quality, needs, etc.

I intend to keep using it. If you want one, use the code TENNISNERD10 to get 10% off their website.

Features

There is a long list of features on the ADV Pro bag. I haven’t seen a tennis bag with quite as many pockets. This is very convenient, and my only peeve is that I sometimes forget where in which pocket I put something, but that is more up to my lack of organization skills than the actual bag.

  • Straps that can be detached and carried from the front, back, or removed altogether.
  • Large main compartment with mesh side pockets for extra clothing, balls, racquets, and trophies.
  • “Secret” pocket for cards, cash or passports.
  • Use utility loops to clip on your keys, bag tags, and tournament credentials.
  • Sturdy tarpaulin backing to handle all court surfaces.
  • A large side panel that can carry match journals, essential papers, a laptop, and/or tablet.
  • Hook the bag to a fence to keep it free from court debris
  • Built-in cooler pocket.
  • YKK zippers to access each compartment.
  • A weatherproof, durable, military-grade Korda nylon outer shell.
  • Side organization panel to quickly store and find all your small gear.
  • Quick access pocket for your phones, keys, wallet, etc.
  • Separate dirty (or clean) clothes from everything else in a secret compartment.

Specifications

  • Length: 30″
  • Width: 14″
  • Depth: 12″
  • Volume: 62L
  • Weight: 3.8 lbs

What’s new?

If you are already familiar with V1 or V2, you might wonder, what’s new? The key new features are height-adjustable straps, a toiletry pocket, and a better fit for up to 10 racquets. The racquet fit is the most significant improvement for me, who bring a lot of racquets to the court, but I also like that they added a handle to the bag for various ways of carrying it.

  • Mess-free toiletry pocket for sunscreen and things that could get messy.
  • Dual top handle for even easier handling.
  • The enhanced secret pocket is now more hidden and secure.
  • Improved shoe and sweat compartments for more accessible storage and separation of sweaty clothes.
  • Height adjustable shoulder straps with more robust, metal clips.
  • Added key loop in quick access pocket.
  • Added racquet compartment space without adding any bulk.
  • Sleeves for pickleball paddles.

ADV Pro V3 Review – Summary

Simply put, the ADV Pro V3 is a clear improvement over V1 and V2. I used to complain a bit over the lack of racquet space, but this is now fixed. Sure, it is not a 15-racquet bag, but few players need those. The compact feel is something I value as the bag doesn’t feel bulky or cumbersome to carry. It also fits nicely in the trunk together with other bags.

I did like the grey base color for the Lava and Volt options, but for me, the Midnight is awesome and discreet and doesn’t have the colossal brand logos that most other brands use to cover their bags with.

If you want an excellent tennis bag that thinks of everything in a compact size, check out the ADV Pro V3 bag. It has become my new standard tennis bag. Don’t forget about the 10% discount code TENNISNERD10 if you decide to check it out.
