One of the top favorites at the French Open 2022, Stefanos Tsitsipas comes back from the brink after being down 2 sets to Musetti.
It was a dramatic day at the French Open. Besides the Tsitsipas comeback, we had the last match of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, which led to many emotional moments on the center court. Hugo Gaston did what he does best and got the Paris crowd behind him in a five-set thriller win against Deminaur. In form, Joao Sousa got through in five against Tseng, Ruusuvuori won in five against Humbert, Carballes Baena beat Otte in five, Cecchinato came back from two sets down with an interesting scoreline against Andujar (4-6 4-6 6-0 7-5 6-0) and Gilles Simon turned back time against Carreno Busta with a five set win.
These dramatic matches is what makes a grand slam special. And we’re only a couple of days in.
Rune shows talent
In a surprisingly straightforward match, Holger Rune defeated Shapovalov in three sets. The young Dane has really started to show his promise in 2022 and this was the biggest win of his career so far.
Talking about straightforward matches, Daniil Medvedev, who has talked about clay as his least favorite surface on many occasions, impressed in only giving Bagnis six games for the entire match. Gasquet was equally impressive in defeating Lloyd Harris.
Today (May 25th), we have Djokovic vs Molcan and Moutet vs Nadal to look forward to. Alcaraz will be in action against Ramos-Vinolas. There are also several interesting matches like Dimitrov vs Coric, Korda vs Gasquet and Zverev vs Baez.
I would put an upset alert on Baez defeating Zverev and Gasquet could be a tough one for Korda (not sure I would call it an upset, but kind of).
