After 10 days of fascinating tennis, we’re down to the final two in Shanghai as Jannik Sinner takes on Novak Djokovic in the final. The latter is the best-performing player in the Chinese city ever, while Sinner is a man who has beaten him before and will be looking to do so again.
So, what will happen in this one? Expect lots of good tennis, but when it comes to who will win, keep reading to find out!
Sinner vs Djokovic Odds
First thing first, let’s look at what tennis bookies are predicting in this match. Here are the latest Sinner vs Djokovic odds:
- Sinner to win @ 1.45 (-222)
- Djokovic to win @ 2.70 (+170)
Jannik Sinner is the world No 1, and according to the betting odds, quite a strong favourite to win this match. He’s 1.45 to win (-222), making him a moderate favourite.
Even though Novak Djokovic has been superb in Shanghai, both this year and generally, he’s not getting much faith from the bookies. His victory pays out 2.70 (+170).
Djokovic has disappointed a bit too much this year, so the trust from the bookies is gone, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be without any chances.

Head-to-Head: Sinner vs Djokovic
The head-to-head between them so far has been rather interesting, with Djokovic leading 4-3. It’s been quite close recently, with the most recent match going to Sinner. That was the Australian Open final, and the Italian was able to win the match in four sets.
Some of the more recent matches have generally gone Sinner’s way as well, as he has won three of the last four they played.
Recent Form
Jannik Sinner
Sinner came to Shanghai in rather good form after making the China Open final. There were some question marks about whether he’d feel any aftereffects of that run. He didn’t, and he kept playing solid tennis, winning all but one match in straight sets.
He’s been really impressive on hard courts this year with an overall record of 42-3. The only recent loss was against Carlos Alcaraz, who gave him two of the three losses on hard courts this year.
It’s somewhat of a tricky matchup for him, but it took a tremendous effort in the China Open final to beat him. It seems rather unlikely that Djokovic will have the same energy Alcaraz had, especially given how Sinner has countered him in recent matchups.
Novak Djokovic
Djokovic arrived in Shanghai without any real form. His most recent event before this one was the US Open, where he played pretty poorly. He didn’t look like himself and didn’t seem motivated either.
He did find good form here, which was expected as the court suits his style. He’s generally been tremendous in Shanghai over the years, so making the final isn’t shocking, but maybe slightly surprising.
Even though he’s made a good run here, it’s still not the best level Djokovic can produce. He’ll need that to beat Sinner, but so far it hasn’t really shown up against Sinner recently, having lost three of their last four matches.
Our Sinner vs Djokovic Prediction and Betting Tips
With all of this said, how will Sinner vs Djokovic pan out?
It’s pretty tricky to say, mostly because we’re talking about Djokovic. A highly motivated Djokovic, playing close to his best, can beat Sinner without too many problems. Any other version of the Serbian likely won’t be good enough, because Sinner has been a tennis-winning cyborg the past year.
He’s simply winning matches and basically not losing to anyone but Alcaraz. Djokovic is not Alcaraz, so it seems like this is another match that Sinner will likely win. We certainly agree with that and are backing him to win.
Our prediction: Sinner in three sets.
With that in mind here are our recommended bets:
- Sinner to win @ 1.45 (-222)
- Three sets total @ 2.30 (+130)
- Sinner to win 2-1 @ 3.50 (+250)
