NordicDots TS 1.27 String Review

by Jonas Eriksson

This has become one of my favorite strings recently. Read why in this NordicDots TS 1.27 String Review.

Introduction

NordicDots is a new brand on the tennis scene. It has become one of my favorite brands for tennis apparel since they have a nice timeless look, good durability and nice fit.

On the other hand, strings and racquets are different. Companies tend to need time to develop great products. However, good things can happen if you pay attention to detail and quality. Since I try pretty much everything on the market and see many products being copied with a new name on them, I am always somewhat skeptical of new products and brands.

But if you follow Tennisnerd reviews, you might have seen my positive review of the NordicDots Model 99 racquet. No racquet is perfect and there are pros and cons with everything, but the quality in materials and playability of the Model 99 impressed me.

This NordicDots TS 1.27 String Review turned out to not be so different.

Specifications

The TS stands for top spin. And this string is five-sided and oriented for delivering good snapback and a crisp bite on the ball. It is a semi-firm string that plays best at lower tensions. Additionally, it has a wax coating, making it easier to string and better for snapback.

Playability and performance

I have tried this string with a bunch of players. Overall, they are all very positive. Especially when used at tensions around 20 kg or 44 lbs. For a powerful racquet, I have tried it at 53/51 lbs without arm concerns.

Several play-testers are open to using this string regularly, thanks to the confidence it gives you when you go for your shots. One play-tester felt it vibrated a bit too much at 53 lbs and it plays with better comfort at lower tensions.

It is not the softest string on the market, but it provides enough comfort if you ask me. If you want a softer NordicDots string, you can check out their Eco or Power strings.

The TS is all about control, and that last-second dip-in effect makes most poly strings so special compared to multifilament and gut strings.

I thought of strings to compare it to and another favorite springs to mind, Solinco Confidential. It balances stiffness, comfort and control excellently and gives me exactly what I look for in a string: confidence. This makes ND TS 1.27 a winner for me.

Racquets tested in: Wilson RF 01, HEAD Extreme Tour Auxetic, ND Model 99.

Summary

If you like powerful, softer strings, NordicDots TS 1.27 is not for you. Instead, I would recommend Toroline O-Toro or Tru Pro Pure Rush.

But if you like a firmer string that delivers control, spin and ball bite without too high a price of comfort, check out the NordicDots TS 1.27. It has become one of my top choices, and I have included it in the Recommended Strings list.
