Teams and players confirmed for Davis Cup Final 8

Nadal, Alcaraz and Sinner among the top names for the 2024 Davis Cup Finals

The Davis Cup Final 8 teams have been announced and we have some big names on the courts in Malaga this November.

The Italian team are looking to be the first team since Czech’s in 2012-13 to defend their title, of course led by world no 1 Jannik Sinner. Their opponents in the quarterfinals, Argentina, comes with an interesting team, not at least with Sebastian Baez, Francisco Cerundulo and Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

Another interesting group to follow will surely be team USA, with in-form names such as Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul and Ben Shelton. Being in the other top half of the draw, the Americans will face Australia, led by Alexei Popyrin who just recently impressed greatly with his ATP Montreal win. These are actually the two most successful team in the history of the Davis Cup.

One name that stands out a bit extra is of course Rafa Nadal, being part of the Spanish team, led by world no 3 Carlos Alcaraz. Nadal has not competed since his loss to Djokovic in the second round of the Olympics and is currently ranked 154 in the world. So far we don’t know how long the King of Clay will go on for, or where his farewell will be, but the fact is that he has only 14 singles match wins in the past two years.

Nadal’s Spain will face Netherlands and the other remaining quarter-final is Germany vs Canada.

Looking at the complete Davis Cup teams below, two names to be missed are Alexander Zverev for Germany, and Alex de Minaur for Australia.
