So before it’s time to post more content about tennis racquets and strings, I wanted to give you a personal update on what’s going on and also an invite to send over questions that might become posts. I’m receiving lots of questions over Instagram, E-mail, the comments section, the Facebook page and YouTube. I appreciate the feedback, keep it coming! I try to answer everything as fast and as well as I can, but if it’s taking a little long, please be patient, after all I’m only one guy! :) Some of the questions I receive can be useful for a …

I’m in Monte Carlo this week, watching the Masters and I won’t be posting as regularly perhaps but wanted to give some first impressions since this is my first time at the tournament. From what I saw: Djokovic was tested against Simon in a tight three setter. Simon served for the match at 5-4 in the third, but I don’t think I was alone with the feeling that the Serb wasn’t going to give away a single point. Alas, he broke back and won two games for the 2,5 hour win. Djokovic mentioned (in French…he lives in Monte Carlo) that …
In the first round of the Monte Carlo Masters Fabio Fognini took a Sunday (really Monday) walk, as he usually does in matches, and suddenly found himself down 7-5 5-2 30-0 against talented clay-courter Joao Sousa. Then he seemed to tell himself to stop walking and start running and suddenly he had turned the match around, winning in the end with 5-7 7-5 6-4 and booking himself a place against Robredo in the 2nd round of the Monte Carlo Masters. Fognini said after the match:Â “I’m not happy today. I was I think a bit lucky. It was a really difficult …
It might sound like a weird headline to you, but there were quite a few upsets in Rome Masters today. Since it’s popular to use lists I will rank them here: Drumrolll……. Upset 1: Andy “Muzza” Murray lost to Granola Bar (Granollers) after being down 6-4 4-1, getting treatment and making it back to a tie-break, winning the tie-break and then quitting the match. Apparently he has some hip problems. Not a good warm-up for Roland Garros for the Scot who hasn’t had a good clay court season. Upset 2: Stan the Man Wavrinka didn’t show up against Dolgopolov. Don’t know what …
It was never in doubt was it? (Okay, maybe at 15-30 against Ferrer). Rafa was going to take his fifth title of the year in seven tries (two finals) since his injury time-out. The king of clay was simply too good against a slightly nervous or tired Stan “the Man” Wavrinka today in the Madrid Open final and rolled over the Swiss by 6-2 6-4. Going into Rome and then Roland Garros, it’s hard to see who’s going to challenge Rafa with the form he’s in. Federer? The only one who is even remotely close to his clay court game …
Today Roger Federer took one step closer to the number one position in the world through beating Novak Djokovic in a fireworks display that ended 6-3 3-6 6-4 6-3. Since I’m such a Federer fan and a “racquetaholic”, I’ve managed to set up a good deal exclusive for Tennisnerd readers. The first offer is $30 off on one of my favorite racquet series, Dunlop Biomimetic. I was always a fond of 200 and 300 (Verdasco), but 500 (Almagro) is great for players with loads of top spin and an aggressive game. The second offer is on the more control-focused Wilson …
The first week of Wimbledon has passed and on the tennis free Sunday I will try to summarize some of the highlights or insights I’ve gathered in the first week with a dash of humor –  the Tennisnerd way. Rosol who? We who follow tennis knows how hard it is to play the match of your life, upset a better player and come back for the next round with your A-game. Lukas Rosol who managed the biggest Wimbledon upset in a long time by beating Rafael Nadal in round two, became another example of this in his straight set loss to “Coalwriter” Philipp …
Yes, it has finally happened. Tennis tour nutcase/daredevil/pest Daniel “Crazy Dani” Koellerer is banned from the tour. Here is the press release from The Tennis Integrity Unit. If you want to watch some clips from Crazy Dani you can check out this Tennisnerd post In one way it’s a shame that it’s gone, at least for the media exposure, but looking at the tour and tennis as a professional sport more than just entertainment, everybody should be pretty happy he’s gone. Press Release Player banned for life and fined US$100,000 for three violations under the Uniform Tennis Anti-Corruption Program Austrian …
It happened again. The Fed Express hit a wall. I am getting so used to it now, it doesn’t even sting anymore. Which is a strange thing to say for a Fedophile. I wrote an article about Federer’s failure in Dubai some weeks ago that I’ve pasted below. Then I wrote another one where “Nadal taught Federer a lesson” – I am too lazy to link it, but it’s up here on Tennisnerd. I am getting tired of writing about Federer’s losses and tired about hearing that the saga that was Roger Federer’s amazing career is on the end stretch. …
