The buzz is in the air and on the grass. Austrian wunderkind Dominic Thiem has just won his 4th tournament of the year at the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart and is now ranked 7th in the world at 23 years of age. Some spectators marvel at his power, some say it’s ALL, and maybe too much, about power. But to me, Thiem definitely have other tennis tools in his workshop. He’s already starting to create a selection of hot shots, which is similar to what Federer did already in the beginning of his career. “Hey!”, you say, “Dimitrov was the …
Baby Federer
Being spoiled with the era of Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray – I’m worried that the coming generation won’t be up to the same standard. I and hopefully and most probably a big chunk of the tennis world wants Richard Gasquet to stay in the top and keep playing well. If only for that beautiful one-handed backhand of his. His two recent wins against Federer and Berdych in the Rome Masters, both coming after losing the first set, is an indication that Gasquet is starting to get his head back together after years of self-doubt, a cocaine-kiss scandal, and a lot of pressure from the very …
