Wimbledon 2022 Day 4 Predictions

Here is our Wimbledon 2022 Day 4 Predictions, courtesy of our excellent guest contributor, Alex Mann. What are your predictions?

WIMBLEDON 2022 DAY 4 PREDICTIONS

Day 3 of The Championships was a relatively upset-free day, with many top contenders progressing to the third round.
Djokovic, Pliskova, Alcaraz, Jabeur and Ostapenko all won in straight sets. However, it was the end of the road for Raducanu, Ruud, and Murray.

Centre Court

Karolína Plíšková (6) vs Katie Boulter
Pliskova will battle it out against the in-form Brit, Katie Boulter. In a rematch from last week’s Eastbourne tournament, which Boulter won in three sets, Pliskova will be looking for revenge. The big-serving Czech had a slow start to her grass-court season but showed good form in her first-round match. Boulter will fancy her chances but will just come up short.

Prediction – Pliskova in 3 sets

Rafael Nadal (2) vs Ri?ardas Berankis
Nadal was tested in his first round but found his feet by the end of the match. This should be a more straightforward match for the Spaniard. Nadal defeated Berankis in Melbourne at the beginning of the year, so he will have the confidence he can do the same again.

Prediction – Nadal in 3 sets

Coco Guaff (11) vs Mihaela Buz?rnescu
One of the contenders for the title, Guaff, struggled in her first-round match, narrowly coming through in the third set 7-5. She will need to improve her level if she is going to contend as her opponent, Buzarnescu, is an excellent grass-court player.

Prediction – Guaff in 2 sets

Court 1

Stefanos Tsitsipas (4) vs Jordan Thompson
Tsitsipas will take on Australian Jordan Thompson. Experienced grass courter, Thompson will pose a threat and could take it the distance. Stefanos has never looked comfortable on the grass, so this will be a big challenge.

Prediction – Tsitsipas in 5 sets

Iga Swiatek (1) vs Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove
Swiatek extended her unbeaten run to 36 consecutive wins, with her victory in the first round. At times, she looked uncomfortable on the surface during her first-round match, but this could be the lack of matches. She will play even better today.

Prediction – Swiatek in 2 sets

Alex de Minaur (19) vs Jack Draper
The Australian, Alex de Minaur, will square off against the young Brit, Jack Draper. This should be a high-intensity match with Minaur’s incredible speed matching up against Draper’s rapid forehand. This match could go either way as both players are in form, but I’m going to give the edge to the Brit.

Prediction – Draper in 4 sets

Matches to watch

Filip Krajinovi? (26) vs Nick Kyrgios
Kyrgios will be looking to improve his first-round, overcoming Britain’s Paul Jubb in five sets to set up a meeting with seed 26, Filip Krajinovic. Krajinovic doesn’t have the weapons to trouble the big-serving Australian, and I expect Kyrgios to step up his game.

Prediction – Kyrgios in 3 sets

Simona Halep (16) vs Kirsten Flipkens
An impressive performance from Halep in the first round will give her confidence she can repeat this against Kirsten Flipkens. Flipkens has announced this will be her final singles tournament, so I’m sure she will like to go out with a good performance.

Prediction – Halep in 2 sets

Elena Rybakina (17) vs Bianca Andreescu
A slugfest of a match between the consistent Rybakina and the 2019 US Open Champion, Bianca Andreescu. Andreescu is finding some form after a few years of injuries, reaching the Bad Homburg final last week. Rybakina made the fourth round last year, so will be looking to repeat this.

Prediction – Rybakina in 3 sets

Barbora Krej?íková (13) Viktorija Golubic
The one-handed backhand specialist, Golubic, reached the Wimbledon quarter-final last year, so this will be a tough test for Krejcikova. Krejcikova is not back to her best since her return from injury but has been improving in every match.

Prediction – Krejcikova in 3 sets
